I’d love to share with you what is happening on our farm and in the backwaters. The Trempealeau River flows through our cattle’s pasture. Muir Creek flows into the Trempealeau River. We’re 2 miles away from Arcadia, WI. My name is Sue Roskos and my husband is Thomas C. Roskos. By schooling I’m a nurse and Tom is a vet. We’re fortunate to have land in Buffalo and Trempealeau Co. Both our passions are in nature, farming, medicine and healing. I take a daily morning hawk walk to get connected to myself and nature. So come along and you too can experience a sliver of Welcome Home Farm and nature’s happenings.

The porch screen door slams behind me. It’s Sept. ‘09 and the brassy farm geese honk. Sassy and Geezer are as great as any watch dog. They sound off and continue honking until their beaks hit the fresh ground feed. They slop in their dirty bucket and greedily consume grain. I let the 2 Swedish Blue ducks out of their dog kennel pen. They get locked up @ night or coon get them. Now, we do have a trapping supply business. I was baffled as to why we had feed pails dumped over every AM. I mentioned to Tom that I knew the coon were eating my ducks and knocking over feed pails. Now he did set a new type of trap to catch coon. I found a coon sitting in front of the geese and ducks the next AM. I was sold on that trap. I sing the praises for Larry Jungwirth’s Coon Catcher. Larry is the insurance guy who has a passion for trapping. Tom smeared “Hawken’s Bucket Bait” in the trap night after night. I have 2 ducks left and we have less coon now. The Coon Catcher and a descriptive brochure are featured on this website for sale. The ducks waddle out of their pen and literally dive down Apple Alley. They slip and slide in the morning moisture. They quack their pleasure as they continue on their bug harvesting venture. The ducks are feasting under the low hanging branches of the Honeycrisp apple trees. I hear the Sandhill cranes calling. I soon will see them down by the river bend.
