We are Doc Tom and Sue Roskos and we operate Welcome Home Farm. I am a licensed large animal veterinarian in WI. I’ve been in solo practice for 25 years. my wife Sue has worked on our farm and vet practice for 10 years with me. August of 2007, we started this trapping supply business. With nephew Jeff Ziegeweid’s help and friend Bill Schlesser’s skills the showroom was created. We re-modeled a section for it in our 1901 barn on our first farm. I also started attending trapping conventions as a vendor. Trapping has been a hobby for me for 40 years. Sue walks along the creeks with me as she did with her brother Tim Salwey and Uncle Kenny Salwey.

Our extensive interaction with the natural world and people has formulated a holistic ethic within us. We understand that as stewards of the land we have responsibilities to both appreciate and protect the resources we are entrusted with. Respect for the animals is the most important attitude we have as trappers. This pushes us to pursue the most humane harvest methods and to be cautious to not over-harvest any species. For us it is not about the numbers of animals harvested but about assuming a responsible role in fur-bearer management.

As importantly, we feel that the experience of trapping and coon hunting centers around being drawn into the whole of nature. When trapping one is in a position to observe and appreciate the beauty and complexity of the natural world. This is time to re-charge the soul, to feel oneness with creation and to be conscious of the real world. This perspective will lead us to share the experiences with our families and friends, help other trappers and to be aware and active in protecting our environment. The feeling of being in harmony with nature provides the avenue to be in harmony with ourselves and with all in our world.

Our mission @ the Trap Shack Company is to provide great products that allow you to harvest and handle fur-bearers with the respect they deserve. The high quality traps we sell are complemented by supplies that enhance their potential to provide humane harvest. Handling the fur is of high priority and we have accessories that facilitate that. Sharing of knowledge is so important-we provide an environment where people can share their knowledge and experiences along with learning new things. Everyone is a teacher/everyone is a student.
