Jimmy and Kaleb Ellis have Stories!
Jimmy Ellis and his wife Amy have a delightful residence in the country with their son Kaleb. The family has a passion for beef cattle, horses, chickens and nature. Jimmy and Amy are both up-beat people that have created a life to instill country and nature into their darling son Kaleb. Kaleb and Jimmy sat and chatted with Uncle Kenny Salwey @ our last Open House. Jimmy spoke of being in nature as a real experience. He’s also a bee keeper. Tom, Larry Jungwirth and Jimmy are all beekeepers.
Jimmy and Kaleb have really enjoyed catching an abundance of critters!! They’ve harvested 30 coon, 4 coyotes and 1 muskrat!
They’ve been having good luck with Belisle 160 bodygrips for coon. They have been trying wooden Coni-pans with mixed results.
Jimmy also has skinned skunk and harvested essence. He suggested skinning the skunk before you draw off the essence.
Kaleb and Jimmy weigh and sex all coon catches. They’ve found there to be more females that they are catching this year. They are not getting multiple catches in locations.
They are finding that the coon are working creeks and ponds more since corn is off.
They are using wire cages to place body-grips for coon and find it to be working very well. Jimmy puts bait/lure on wool in a small cat food can. Wool helps hold the scent.
They’e had success using Mark June’s Widowmaker Paste Bait for coyotes.
JIMMY’S TIP: Tape 1 oz. lure bottles to larger squeeze bottle (such as for urine). Align tops so it’s easy to open bottles. Don’t have to search around for small lure bottles-everything is in one place!
Thanks Kaleb and Jimmy Ellis for the great stories and TIPS!

Tom, great job on the story…including the skunk essence fiasco!
Jimmy really enjoys your site, and Kaleb is in awe to see himself on the computer.
I’ll keep sending photos, and actually have a few now, and keep up with the wonderful stories and tales of two local boys who are out for the love of the sport.
